A Sudoku puzzle is a 9 by 9 grid. In order to solve a Sudoku you have to complete the grid so that every row, column and every three-by-three box contains the digits 1 to 9.
If you've never done this before, please click on the 'tutorial' link in the topbar for a crash course.
Starting a puzzle is simple: Just select a level and then hit the New button on the right side of the puzzle page. The site will then generate a new puzzle of the level you selected.
If you want to practice on specific Sudoku Solving Tactics, hit the 'Advanced Puzzle Selection' checkbox before hitting the 'new' button. In this case you will be presented a dialog in which you can select the puzzles using the specific Sudoku Solving Tactic you are searching for.
This site has an excellent solver which will any puzzle which has 1 Unique solution. Just hit the 'My Sudoku' button, and you can enter your own puzzle. After you've entered your puzzle, click 'done' and 'solve' and you will have the solution.
There are 2 kinds of numbers you can enter.
1. You can fill in a number if you think you know what value a cell must have, by clicking in the centre of the cell and then click the number you want to enter.
2. If you're not (yet) sure if the number is right, you can use the helper cells, by clicking on the side of a cell. In every cell there are 8 helper cells, which should be sufficient for every number you want to 'remember' before filling it.
If you click on login, you can enter credentials. If you do so, your solved puzzles will be remembered and if you solve enough puzzles, you gain eternal fame by entering the hall of fame.
If you're stuck, hit the hints button. If you don't know what the hints mean, click click on hints/tactics link in the rightbar.
The puzzles can be printed by clicking on the print icon in the topbar.
Right Click anywhere on the grid to access the advanced functions.
